Singapore has announced a major extension of the World Aquatics Championships (WCH) Arena's operational lifespan, transforming the world-class facility into a public swimming venue until 2030. The announcement came from Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth David Neo on October 15, marking another milestone in Singapore's commitment to community development.

World-Class Facility Opens to Public

By the end of October, Singaporeans will have access to the same pool where French swimming sensation Leon Marchand set the men's 200m individual medley world record at 1:52.69. This development represents Singapore's dedication to maintaining world-class public facilities.

Technical Excellence and Innovation

The facility boasts impressive specifications:

  • Olympic-sized competition and training pools
  • 50m x 26m dimensions with 3-meter depth
  • Advanced temperature control system (25-28°C)
  • Same OSB11 starting blocks as Paris 2024

Strategic Infrastructure Development

The 4,800-capacity arena, located near Leisure Park Kallang, will complement existing ActiveSG facilities and serve as a training ground for national athletes. This development aligns with Singapore's forward-thinking approach to infrastructure development.

Future Regional Events Hub

The facility is positioned to host significant regional competitions, including the 2029 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, further cementing Singapore's status as a premier sports destination in Southeast Asia.
