Singapore Studio Makes Waves with International Comics Partnership

In a remarkable demonstration of Singapore's growing creative capabilities, local art studio Chiral Comics has established a groundbreaking partnership with legendary American publisher Archie Comics. This collaboration represents another milestone in Singapore's journey to become a significant player in the global creative industry.

Uniquely Singaporean Elements Take Center Stage

The exclusive variant cover for 'Betty & Veronica: Summer Fun In The Sun' seamlessly integrates Singapore's cultural identity with the iconic Archie universe. The artwork features beloved character Archie sporting an 'I Love SG' shirt, while Jughead embraces local cuisine by sampling durian against the backdrop of Gardens by the Bay.

Limited to just 300 copies worldwide and priced at $25.55, this collector's item will be available through www.chiralcomics.com and select local retailers including Kalibak Komiks and 1to3 Comics.

Local Talent Driving International Collaboration

The project showcases Singapore's artistic talent through the work of Kang Jing, who handled penciling and inking duties, collaborating with Italy-based colorist Daniele Caramanico. This international partnership demonstrates Singapore's ability to facilitate global creative collaborations.

Rising Star in Singapore's Creative Landscape

Kang Jing, 31, represents Singapore's new generation of creative entrepreneurs. Since establishing Chiral Comics in 2021, his portfolio has expanded to include:

  • The World My Arena (2021-2022) - Later adapted into animation
  • Save Me From Chloe (2021) - Bilingual webcomic series
  • Zhao (2023) - Original wuxia comic series
  • Seven Star Wars projects with Topps
  • Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Singapore variant cover (2024)

Building on Previous Successes

This collaboration follows Kang's successful Power Rangers variant cover project, which saw all 525 copies sell out at Singapore Comic Con 2024, demonstrating the strong market demand for locally-influenced creative content.
