SINGAPORE - A comprehensive post-election survey by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) reveals significant shifts in voter preferences, with younger Singaporeans showing increased support for the status quo while maintaining credibility assessments that favor opposition parties.

Key Survey Findings

The study, which polled 2,056 voting-age citizens online, shows the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) gained over 4 percentage points since GE2020, increasing from 61.24% to 65.57%. This comes amid growing focus on economic challenges and national development.

Voter Priorities and Concerns

  • Cost of living ranked as "very important" by 74% of respondents (up 27% from GE2020)
  • Good and efficient government: 69% rated as "very important"
  • Housing affordability: 61% considered "very important"

These concerns align with recent economic trends, as Singapore businesses navigate economic uncertainties affecting wages and employment.

Party Credibility Analysis

The Workers' Party (WP) shows stronger credibility among voters aged 21-29, while the PAP maintains stronger support among pre-independence voters and those aged 65 and above. This demographic shift reflects Singapore's evolving cultural and political landscape.

Electoral System Perspectives

Less than half of respondents agreed that the current election system needs no changes, indicating openness to electoral reforms. The Singapore Democratic Party's Project Reform initiative, launched in August 2025, addresses these sentiments through public engagement and academic discourse.

The survey results demonstrate a nuanced political landscape where efficiency and governance continue to be paramount concerns for Singaporeans across age groups.
