Fullerton Fund Management launches new retail fund under MAS's EQDP initiative in Singapore

Singapore's Asset Management Sector Expands with New Retail Fund

Fullerton Fund Management has launched its first retail fund under the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) S$5 billion Equity Market Development Programme (EQDP), marking a significant milestone in Singapore's evolving financial landscape.

The Fullerton Singapore Value-Up Fund, announced on Monday (Oct 6), will focus exclusively on Singapore-listed securities, including large, mid, and small-cap stocks, IPOs, and secondary listings. This initiative aligns with Singapore's growing prominence in regional financial markets.

Strategic Investment Focus

Robert St Clair, managing director and head of investment strategy at Fullerton Fund Management, emphasized the fund's alignment with Singapore's robust economic fundamentals. The timing appears particularly favorable, as Singapore's business ecosystem shows strong resilience.

  • Investment across all market capitalization tiers
  • 20-40 high-conviction stock portfolio
  • Focus on financials, real estate, and industrials
  • Both accumulation and distribution share classes available

Market Outlook and Investor Sentiment

The fund launches amid improving market fundamentals, with earnings expectations projected to grow around 6% next year. A Fullerton survey revealed strong local investor confidence in Singapore equities, particularly in themes such as industrialization, clean energy, and artificial intelligence.

"The actively managed Fullerton Singapore Value-Up Fund offers retail investors a unique opportunity to co-invest - alongside institutional capital - in companies that are transforming for the future," said Ng Yao Loong, head of equities at SGX Group.

EQDP Initiative Impact

As one of three asset managers selected for the initial S$1.1 billion allocation under the EQDP, Fullerton's appointment reflects its deep heritage in Singapore and expertise in managing risk assets. The program aims to expand investor participation beyond large-cap stocks while strengthening Singapore's position as a regional financial hub.
